The ‘Magic Pill’ that cures everything

Is it too good to be true?

I don’t know if you’re like me Dame, but every time I go onto the social medias, someone is peddling me something to cure all my menopausal symptoms.

In one happy, magic pill, potion or powder, my belly fat will disappear, I’ll be less irritated, lose weight, be happier, richer, taller and most importantly, YOUNGER! Woohoo! Sign me up.

Yesterday, I was challenged to a quiz, which I did several times, changing my answers each time (even putting myself as  a little underweight – which I am not…). And each time, the same answer – I am at risk. The quiz then informed me I could realistically get to 45kgs in 12 weeks!  Yikes – the last time I weighed that was after eating an Israeli salad in India back in the nineties (a decision I’m still regretting).

Don’t get me wrong here, there are some really wonderful resources and tools on offer out there in the interwebs, but if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. It’s a bit like being told to eat margarine to lower your cholesterol (bleh) – not much use if you don’t make other diet and lifestyle shifts.

Here's the rub

I’m going to be really honest with you here Dame. Our bodies change during the menopause. I mean, I used to be able to click my fingers and the weight would just disappear off me. Now, I find I have to work  harder for a smaller reward. I’ve also noticed I have a larger appetite (when I was young cigarettes and alcohol were two of my staple food groups – maybe that’s why I kept so trim…).

And here’s the other thing Dame, a lot of the time I just can’t be bothered to work that hard – plus, that little extra padding pushes out the wrinkles in my face – natural Botox I say…

BUT (and it’s a big but – I like big buts and I cannot lie), it’s not an excuse to throw in the towel because it feels too hard and a bit daunting. And, whilst one pill may not magically fix all that ails us, the small decisions we make on a daily basis may just be the difference between healthy and not so healthy ageing.

Do I recommend supplementation and dietary changes? Hells yeah! But only to the extent that YOU are comfortable with.

So, if you are feeling overwhelmed about all the changes that are happening or maybe what’s in store, pop in and see me. Together we’ll make a plan that suits you and only you (and remember if you do it in July, you go in the draw for a Reset package – valued at over $500).

Until next time, keep being great.

And remember, be kind to yourself.
